The National Museum acquires the mounted hide of the famous race horse,
Phar Lap, after he dies in America. For many visitors, a look at Phar
Lap in his glass case is a highlight of their trip to the Museum.
Phar Lap won 36 races in Australia between April 1929 and November 1931.
He won the 1930 Melbourne Cup, and was the only horse to start favourite
